Out of the Past with a Twist of Truth is a collection of more than fifty easy-to-read, thought-provoking short stories with a spiritual application. The collection contains humorous, down-to-earth illustrations from the life experiences of Pastor Norman R. Gardner, a natural storyteller, who excelled at taking everyday incidents and relating them to his audience.

The five sections of the book include: The Christian Life, Church, Faith and Prayer, Life in General, and Others. 

Compiled by his wife, author June M. Gardner, and illustrated by her artist friend, France Anne Thompson, these stories are meant to provide enjoyment and inspiration.

Originally written in 1990-1991 to inspire members of his congregation in Orange Park, Florida, using his weekly column in the church newsletter, The Messenger. After serving ten churches in five states for sixty-three years, Norman passed away in 2021 at the age of eighty-five..
